Not giving up….

Published by erlinda at 5:37 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Today was a remarkable day in history because we just elected Obama to be our new president. Then I got to thinking we have come a long way. I mean really not just race wise but as people coming to a common understanding for the need to change.
Then I got to thinking change is inevitable. The one constant thing we can be sure of is that everything changes. But just coming to that conclusion takes people a long time to figure out. It’s as if something really bad has to happen to people first in order for them to learn that the way they had been thinking or doing something is not the right way or better said the most optimal way.
Then I thought of how hard it is to be so optimistic and to see life in a way where everything is possible and the sky is not the limit and then have the people around you only see obstacles. It makes you sometimes feel as though every time you try to help people they don’t even appreciate it. This is sad because there comes a time when you feel like giving up on people. Why should I care if they are not even going to care about their own lives? Why should I feel bad and sad for the kind of life they are leading if they don’t even see it?
And then it hits you. You have to care because if you don’t then who will? And it’s when you see people like Obama that you feel inspired not to give up because even if out of 100 people no one listens to your advise at least one of those people will and you can make a difference in their life. And in turn they can help other people as well. So today I just want to say thank you to America for not giving up hope and thank you to Obama for having the courage to strive forth on new territory. It inspires me to keep on going even when I feel all my good intentions have gone to waste.
